Additional Information

All bedrooms are single feature an ensuite, ceiling fans, television and nurse call system. Tasty and nutritious meals are planned by our aged care specialist dietitian and prepared freshly on site.

Common areas of The Laurels are within the heritage listed home and include spacious dining and lounge areas where residents and their visitors can relax and chat, a well-stocked library and a welcoming courtyard that is the perfect spot for an al fresco catch-up with family and friends.

Experienced staff are on duty 24 hours per day to provide care and Podiatrists and Physiotherapists are among the allied health professionals available to the residents.

A comprehensive activities program includes bingo, reminiscence therapy, craft, pet therapy, visiting entertainers who provide music and dance, weekly religious services and bus trips. Residents can also relax and be pampered with hair and beauty services.

Staff are fully trained, experienced and are passionate about their work.

If you choose to become a consumer, our caring team can assist you with personal care (such as showering and getting dressed), managing your health and medication, and all of the day-to-day jobs that have become difficult to manage.

We make life easy by looking after the cooking, cleaning and laundry, and will work with your family to develop a support plan that’s right for you.

Like all accredited aged care homes, The Laurels is subject to a regular series of support contacts conducted by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. The purpose of which is to monitor our ongoing compliance with the Accreditation Standards and the Aged Care Act.

A support contact involves an unannounced visit to the home by the commission’s quality assessors. A support contact generally lasts one-day and involves an overview of our performance against certain aspects of care or services.

We are also subject to 3 yearly Re-accreditation audits. This involves 2 quality assessors being onsite for 2 days. This audit is to assess our performance against all the 8 Aged Care Standards.

The Laurels most recent re-accreditation audit was completed on the 5th June 2019 and we were assessed as meeting all the required outcomes.

UPA has annual internal Quality Review audits as an ongoing part of the organisations Quality Improvement program. The audits are conducted by external consultants who have an extensive experience in the aged care sector. Our last audit was undertaken in March 2019 and resulted in all standards being rated as met.
